Forrest Fire Station precinct is one of Canberra’s most iconic heritage landmarks. This collaborative project set out to re-invigorate a neglected two-story commercial interior into a contemporary and sophisticated workplace.

Focused on capturing the available natural light and opening the interior space, the design team meticulously detailed around heritage elements to achieve a delightful juxtaposition between the old and new.

Upon entry, guests are welcomed into the foyer by the textured detail of a Travertine bar area designed for hosting clients and the generous natural light filtering down from the upper level. In the primary workspace, a kitchenette elegantly occupies centre stage while spacious offices and meeting rooms are integrated into the open plan design.

The interior finishes are crisp and harmonious, with carefully curated lighting and ambient music. Beautiful hand-crafted furniture from local designers  launches the interior atmosphere from generic office into a workplace that exudes confidence and quality.

The atmosphere throughout is warm and inviting. Refined profiles and detailing convey a contemporary design language and reflect the client’s forward-thinking culture and service.
